YMA History:
The formation of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) occurred
in 1935, when Christianity influenced the lifestyle of the young Mizo state. On
the night of June 3, 1935, a storm blew in after the Christians' work,
frightening the missionaries, two Welsh and Mizo leaders who were at Kattie Hughes'
house. While I was hoping for a storm to pass, I got a message from someone.
During this meeting, they came up with an idea that would unite all my Mizo.
Initially, the name of the organization was proposed: Young Mizo Christian
Association, which should refer to the Young Men's Christian Association
(YMCA). Not yet, the Reverend David Edward surgiu under the name of the
"Sociedade Jovem Lushai". Everyone agreed with this name and the
organization began its operations on June 15, 1935. Its pioneers formed the
povo Mizo. Its main members are the states of Mizoram, related to Assam,
Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. Finally, on October 7, 1947, the name
was changed to “Associação Juvenil Mizo”. The three main goals and objectives
are: good use of entertainment; development of the Mizo people and respect for
the Christian tradition. In addition to this, I also have 10 commandments which
are self-discipline and honesty, good family management, honesty and truth,
peace, morality, leadership and values, social compromise, religious respect,
civility and alcohol abstinence. And remedies.
